Do I have to be a charitable or nonprofit organization to buy a subscription to the Directory?
No. We also offer subscriptions to individuals, for-profit companies, government departments and agencies, as well as licensing to libraries. We can offer remote access universities and college libraries, for an additional fee.
How much does the Directory cost?
The cost of a subscription varies depending on the type of organization you represent and the size of your organization. To view the pricing model for your organization, please click on the appropriate brochure:

Does Imagine Canada still produce the print version of the Directory?
No, Imagine Canada discontinued the print version of the Directory in 2006
If there are almost 10,000 registered foundations in Canada, why does the Directory only have 3,000-3,500 listings?
There are close to 10,000 nonprofit organizations in Canada registered as either a private foundation or a public foundation. Many of these were created to generate funds for specific organizations such as a hospital or a university. We only include foundations that are relevant to grant-seekers. It is our policy to only include foundations in the Directory if they have a history of making grants within Canada to more than one or two designated charities.
Does Imagine Canada offer discounts on Directory subscriptions?

Does Imagine Canada offer resources to Directory users?
Imagine Canada has a new Directory Training Center with free video tutorials. We also provide complimentary tours of the Directory that are valuable to new Directory users or experienced users looking for a skill refresher. I just can’t afford the Directory, is there a way to access the Directory for free?
Directory licensing is available to libraries and universities. Contact your local library or university to see if they have Directory access. If you are in the Toronto area, you can book an appointment at Imagine Canada’s Nonprofit Library to use the Directory free of charge. Email library@imaginecanada.ca to book an appointment.
