Peer Review

Peer review is an essential element of the Standards Program, contributing to the rigour and credibility of the accreditation process.

All applications for accreditation are reviewed by three volunteer peer reviewers, who then meet with the full panel to discuss and make decisions on a number of applications.

I have greatly appreciated my opportunity to participate in two separate peer review panels for Imagine Canada’s Standards Program. The online platform permits revisions to our documents, and provides access to information resources. The support offered by Imagine Canada staff was a great benefit during this process. This equally allowed us to work with our peers from other organizations with similar objectives. A truly enriching experience.

Peer reviewers must be recommended by the Board Chair or most senior staff person (i.e., ED/CEO) of a Canadian charity or nonprofit. All peer reviewers are required to sign confidentiality and conflict of interest agreements before they are given applications.
