Imagine Canada Board
Imagine Canada's volunteer Board is legally responsible for the Standards Program and in this capacity its key responsibilities are to approve Program policies and procedures; approve participation fees; approve Program budget; establish the Standards Council and its terms of reference; and appoint 3 people to serve on the Standards Council.
Imagine Canada's Board is elected by the membership of Imagine Canada (which consists of charities and public-benefit nonprofits) for 3-year renewable terms.
Standards Council
The principal role of the Standards Council will be oversight of the Standards Program. The Standards Council is responsible for recommending Program policies and procedures to the Imagine Canada Board; approving the Standards; recommending participation fees to the Imagine Canada Board; establishing terms of reference for peer review committees and expert panels; appointing members of peer review committees and expert panels; reviewing and rendering decisions on complaints about Program participants.
The composition of the Standards Council is determined through both appointments by Imagine Canada's Board and election by the Founding Members. See the Standards Council Terms of Reference for details.
Mandate
The Provisional Standards Council will be responsible to Imagine Canada’s Board of Directors for the oversight of the Standards Program from 2011-2012 and will propose a process for the formation of future Standards Councils.
