Little change in individual Canadians’ average donation or volunteer activity
Today Statistics Canada released its Caring Canadians, Involved Canadians: Tables Report from the 2010 Canada Survey of Giving, Volunteering and Participating (CSGVP). The CSGVP is a survey program designed to better understand how Canadians support one another through philanthropy, volunteering and direct support. Imagine Canada has been involved with the survey since its inception, providing expertise to Statistics Canada that helps ensure the relevance and comprehensiveness of the data.
Imagine Canada has prepared a Research Note that includes a preliminary assessment of the 2010 CSGVP Tables Report data, additional analysis on overall trends from the 2004 and 2007 surveys, and provincial and territorial breakdowns.
The Tables Report is the first of five releases from the 2010 CSGVP. Starting in the spring, Canadian Social Trends will present a series of in-depth analytical articles that will explore the topics of giving, volunteering, employer support to charitable behaviours and the behaviour of new Canadians.
